What You Get
The READING ROOM, a former Village Hall provides you with an interesting and unusual holiday home. It did start its life as a reading room for the village, and in its time it has also been used as the weekly visiting doctor's surgery, as well as a playschool. However, one of the Reading Room's more unusual uses was during the war when it billeted the local Dad's Army! When converted the basic layout of the building was retained, so the main hall which is the dining/living room is obviously quite spacious. The stage is now the kitchen area. The rest of the cottage comprises of two bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other has the four poster. A cot is available. There is a bathroom with WC and a separate WC. We provide all linen (except for the cot) and towels. The READING ROOM is double glazed and has electric heating, which is included in the price. It is well equipped and for the patio there is garden furniture and barbeque. Off road parking.
The view to the rear of the property is a long established meadow surrounded by different species of trees. These provide different shades of green in the spring and splendid autumnal colours later in the year. (However the meadow does not belong to the property).
Apart from being set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside with lovely villages such as Kersey and Lavenham close by, places like Bury St. Edmunds, Dedham, the Heritage Coast, Minsmere, Aldeburgh, Colchester, Newmarket and Cambridge are within easy reach by car. It is a good area for walking, and the cottage is actually on the official Suffolk cycle route. There is plenty to see and do, and the area is noted for its antique shops. Some tourist information is provided in the cottage. One well behaved pet is welcome.
